Die Künstler unter euch kennen dieses Gefühl, wenn man zum ersten Mal ein eigenes Werk anderen Menschen präsentiert. Man spielt zum ersten Mal ein Lied vor, offenbart zum ersten Mal ein Bild, lässt zum ersten Mal jemanden sein Gedicht lesen. Wie kommt es an? Berührt es sie? Sind die Komplimente ehrlich gemeint? Noch vehementer drängen sich diese Fragen beim allerersten Werk in einer neuen Kunstsparte auf – beispielsweise bei seinem ersten Blog. Und auch die Schaffensphase hat so ihre Tücken. Denn die Vorstellung, dass die eigene Kunst nicht gefällt, hemmt manchmal selbst gestandene Musiker, Maler und Poeten. Kunst ist ein Seelenstrip und die Auseinandersetzung und Offenlegung seiner selbst braucht Mut. Will man aber wissen, wie viel Potential in einem schlummert, bleibt nur die Flucht nach vorn. Augen zu und durch, entweder du reüssierst oder du lernst! Oder: Ohren auf und Musik hören, die beruhigt und die kreativen Adern tanzen lässt. ‚Losing my Mind‘ von The Head and the Heart bewirkt bei mir genau dies und ich freue mich schon jetzt, mehr von dieser Band zu entdecken, erinnert die in Seattle gegründete Combo doch an The Lumineers, einer meiner Lieblingsbands. Die elegant dosierten Country-Elemente nehmen gar einem eingesessenen Stadtkind die Berührungsängste mit diesem Genre und verleihen dem Lied einiges an Verve. Das Lied erinnert mich so sehr an warme Sommerabende wie an regnerische Herbsttage, an mein Zuhause als auch an Nimmerland. Egal wie, wo und wann: It makes me get lost in my mind. Hey Ho!

The first time
The artists among you surely are familiar with that sensation when you present a piece of art for the first time, be it the first time showcasing a song, disclosing a painting or letting somebody read your poem. Will they like it? Will they be touched by it? Are their compliments sincere? These questions become even more daunting when it’s your first work in a new art discipline – like your first blog. The creative phase has its perils too, given that the notion that your art will not be appreciated can inhibit even accomplished musicians, painters and poets. Art means soul stripping and it requires a lot of courage to reveal the world within you. But if you’re keen to find out the scope of your potential, there’s nothing left but to plunge into the fire. Close your eyes and off you go, you either win or you learn! Or: Tune your ears and listen to soothing music that will harness your creativity. ‚Losing my Mind‘ by The Head and the Heart does just that to me and I can’t wait to explore them, since they also remind of one of my favourite bands, The Lumineers. The gently dosed country-elements will carry away even the most reluctant city-dweller and give the song a charming verve. The song reminds me of warm summer evenings as well as rainy autumn days and of home as well as Neverland. No matter how, where or when: It makes me get lost in my mind. Hey Ho!
