Ihr Lied From Here to Mars auf ihrem neuen Album The Color before the Sun drückt das Gefühl aus, das ich für diese Band in meinen sogenannten „Coheed-Sessions“ empfinde: You’re my everything from here to Mars!

From Here to Mars – a Christmas-Special

I haven’t written a blog in a while and since it’s also Christmas, I want to introduce you to my favorite band: Coheed and Cambria! They have tattoos, lightning-style guitars and that fierce look on band photos. Their frontman, a Latino from the state of New York, USA, is slightly chubby and blessed with a rarely seen hairiness that is yet to be paralleled. They are super-curly and Claudio Sanchez wears them long, with his face nearly totally covered when they’re open. Coheed are often classified as a progressive-rock band, but their influences from different styles are manifold and they unify all of them to a uniqueness, that hardly allows any comparison with other bands – whether you like them or not. After having seen one of those band photos, you would expect some angry metal style music with a lot of screaming, shouting and growling, but that’s far from the truth! In spite of inspirations also from that genre and sometimes, in fact, hard digestible elements, you’re gonna be surprised by beautiful melodies, unimitably sung by Sanchez with his unmistakable voice, that does not quite fit with his appearance and takes some getting used to. But boy can he transport emotions… Unexpectedly, a lot of songs are very danceable too! Their songs tell a fantasy-science-fiction-story that is also comic series. The lyrics are permeated with sappy wordings, but they never seem cheesy. On the contrary, they’re essential to the distinct style of Coheed and round off their pieces of art. Their song From here to Mars from their newest album The Color before the sun expresses what I feel for them when I indulge in one of my “Coheed-Sessions”: You’re my everything from here to Mars! Also, this song is a great stepping-stone into their universe, so check it out!
